My Students

On a daily basis, I get to positively impact the lives of 20 fabulous second-grade students! My students attend a Title I school located in the inner city of Richmond, Virginia.

Hard-working, resilient, determined and FULL OF ENERGY are just a few of the words that can be used to describe my wonderful kiddos!

Each and every day they come to school ready to learn and work hard and play even harder, which is why finding ways to help them expel their energy is a must!

My Project

My students have so much energy that even though they are hard workers, it's sometimes hard for them to stay focused. The wobble stools in this project will help my students stay focused on the task at hand while at the teacher table. The teacher table is where the most important skills of the day are taught. While at the teacher table students meet in a small group and engage in hands-on cooperative learning. The seats we currently have are metal and do not allow the children much movement. When they do fidget around on them, both the students and the stools fall causing major disruptions to our learning environment. The wobble stools offer them a chance to move while learning and to be safe while doing so.
