Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title 1 school in Texas. We are a very diverse campus with ESL, Spanish Bilingual, and Vietnamese Bilingual classes at every grade level.
Our little neighborhood school is part of a Redesign initiative encouraging personalized and problem-based learning.
We encourage our students to take control of their learning by having them choose how they learn best. Our staff uses data collected to identify and target the needs of every child. When we are not working in small groups with our By giving our students what they need to be successful, we are creating future world-changers.
My Project
I am hoping to add 6 wobble chairs, 2 wobble cushions, a set of stability bands, and a diffuser to my classroom. This is my ninth year of teaching and my second year using flexible seating. While I have always promoted the idea of open seating and choice, I have never had any other options aside from floor or chair.
These wobble stools and cushions will provide my more active students with an option that promotes movements while also completing class work.
I will use essential oils in the diffuser to enhance the learning environment. I will diffuse different oils for different effects in the classroom. I will be able to create a calming learning environment for my learners using the diffuser and oils.
I am so excited to give my deserving students a high-interest seating option that will entice them to move and work at the same time.
