Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are eager to learn and most definitely require appropriate seating to achieve their greatest potential of learning. They amaze me with their willingness to do their absolute best in every assignment given and discussion had. They love interacting with peers, and receiving small-group learning .

However, small-group time spent at my teacher-table can be a bit uncomfortable because of the height discrepancies between my table and their seating.

Having stools that sit up high will resolve the height issue as well as make small-group learning more engaging.

My Project

Students sometimes require small-group settings to achieve the maximum amount of learning and understanding. During these times an individual or small group of four to five students may receive instruction at the teacher-table. These sessions are very interactive, but have not been very comfortable for my students. The chairs provided by our school are much too short, and are not compatible with the height of my teacher-table. Providing my students with a seating option that is taller than the chairs being currently provided will “level the height-field,” thus creating a more comfortable experience. Additionally, the wobble stools will also lessen the antsy tendencies of those students who like to fidget.
