This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a 4th-grade teacher in a high needs Title one elementary school. Due to COVID, the way we used to teach has changed. Students can no longer share supplies, must practice social distancing, and wear a face mask. Since we cannot share supplies I am looking for STEM activities I can divide between the students to keep them engaged and loving school. These students haven’t been in school since early March and I want them to fall in love with learning even through a pandemic! Thank you so much for your help! Here’s to a new year of learning pandemic style!
My Project
Due to COVID-19 students are to sit at their desk the entire day without much movement except for going to lunch and recess. That is 6 hours of sitting in a chair! I do not know about you, but that would make me sleepy and uncomfortable! Students are constantly readjusting to try and get comfortable. I want to give each of my students a wobble stool so they are able to safely move and wobble at their seats. Students need movement and unfortunately, due to these times, I am not able to provide students with as much movement as they need. Having these stools will allow for students to constantly move (if they choose to).
