Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a New York City Department of Education teacher in the Bronx, I have witnessed my students of all ages, year after year, facing several obstacles that occur both in and out of the school environment. Even though they are faced with many obstacles at such an early age, my students try their best to overcome their hardships with a positive mindset. They arrive at school every morning with motivation and eagerness. They then leave with a strong sense of gratitude because of the education and opportunity that they have received.
I work in a large Title I school with a very high population of either low income-high poverty residents or English Language Learners.
In the majority of cases, it is both. It is my goal to uplift my students in several aspects, which includes their mental, emotional, social, and academic state.
My Project
These wobble chairs will help my students with ADHD release some of their energy by moving around while still focusing on their academics. These chairs would greatly benefit my fidgety students. Many of my students demonstrate hyperactivity they cannot control. However, when these students hum, tap, or shake their legs, it makes it difficult for other students in the classroom to concentrate.
Rather than kicking their feet or tapping, they can quietly wiggle without distracting their peers.
My students would love to use these. Please consider donating to help my students focus on academics in the classroom! By adding various types of seating in my class, students will have the ability to make choices based on their learning needs.
