Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher of students belonging to low-income/high poverty households, a primary goal is to provide a safe, comfortable and fun classroom environment free of the hardships they often face. My students love to move around, hands-on learning, and lots of encouragement and positivity. Many of my students live in single-parent homes or are cared for by a family member, while our school is able to provide them free and reduced lunch, unfortunately, they are not able to experience "typical" life as a second grader. Every day I strive to focus on providing encouragement and support for growth towards their future. I do my best to make their time with me positive and fun, and by doing so I hope to instill a passion for learning and persistence in the pursuit of their goals.
My Project
I have personally seen how these stools can help improve the focus of students who enjoy the freedom of movement while they learn and I am so excited for the opportunity for my students to also benefit from this flexible seating tool. The flexible seating will add another element of comfort and relaxation to my classroom and allow my students to enjoy their time in my class even more!
I can already see my students faces when they walk into my room with the flexible seating I am requesting.
They will be so thrilled to be able to wobble while they learn. Many of my students currently move their chairs out of the way so they may stand and wiggle while in class. This will be a fun and exciting new resource to allow my students to comfortably sit while in class, but also provide an outlet for their wiggles.
