My class consists of 27 amazing, fun-loving 4th graders. I have 8 students who receive special education services and 3 with hearing impairments. I teach in a middle-income area where, in most homes, both parents work.
My students care for others and try their best to succeed every day.
Their academic levels range from reading at a 2nd-grade level to a 5th-grade level. They yearn for knowledge as they are introduced to new concepts. We work together as a class to overcome challenges and gain a better understanding. We strive to be kinder every day.
My Project
Fourth grade is a big change for students. They are now considered an upper-grade class in the elementary school setting. They are learning new strategies and new approaches to their education. Sometimes the inability to sit for extended periods of time hinders a student's learning and the ability to grasp what is being taught.
Focused fidgeting allows students to move while being in the right place at the right time.
Students need the opportunity to change their seating options to best suit their needs. The wobble seating addresses the students' need to fidget or move while maintaining attention on their classwork. Learning to make choices that are good for them, based on their personal needs, is a skill that will benefit them for the rest of their lives.
