My students are friendly, caring, and striving to be the best they can be! They are future nurses, teachers, and leaders.
We are a Title I school in Texas with 100% of our students receiving free breakfast and lunch.
Our area continues to deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, and many of our families are still trying to recover. Our building was also hit, and we are currently housed in portables with two classes to a room.
My students continue to come to school with smiles on their faces. Despite the hardships they deal with, they are working hard to be successful.
My students currently enjoy sitting on the floor with lap desks, some prefer sitting at tables or even a desk away from their friends. The addition of the wobble chairs, will create another seating option. By adding flexible seating, students are able to select a seat in which they feel they will be the most productive. By allowing students to take ownership over their seat, and in turn their learning, I will be able to continue to create a student-centered learning environment.
My number one goal is to create a safe, positive learning environment for my students.
Flexible seating will only help achieve this goal.
