Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work at a school with students who want to be successful every day. They have overcome so much already and I would like to continue to help them on their path to success. Sugarland is a Title 1 school, which means most of our students are on free or reduced lunch and we serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily to many of our students. Many of the students in my 5th grade classes need to move and love the option of choosing where to sit. This past summer I purchased two high top tables and stools, which are utilized every single day. The only issue is that the kiddos love to rock, tip, and twist in the traditional stools and they are not holding up. I'd like to give them a stool that would allow this movement without breaking or being a distraction to others (no creaking).
My Project
Many of my students choose the high top tables in my classroom I purchased this summer over the traditional desks throughout the day to work. By donating to this project you will help support the kids in my classes to move safely and discretely, enhancing their engagement and others around, (no creaking with the stools that actually came with the tables), which ultimately leads to higher academic achievement. Due to the choice seating in my classroom, it gives students the power to be in control of what they need best to learn. Allowing students the ability to tilt and wobble will keep the students who choose this seating option more on task, leading to higher work completion and less distractions for others.
