My Students
As a teacher in a low-income school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.
My students are creative, clever and very spontaneous.
They like to move, they love to read and can't get enough positive attention. Every student in our school receives a free lunch. These students do not let their circumstances get the best of them. They work hard and participate in many programs within our school. My students know they have a classroom environment that is safe to try new things in and just be themselves. Everyone is greeted with a smile and hugs are abundant. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me.
My Project
Kids don't sit still anymore. They need to move, explore, and create. The wobble stools I am requesting will go a long way to help them be all they can be. They will be able to wiggle, wobble, and move without getting in trouble or disrupting others. Students will begin to grow their independence as learners as they make choices about how or where they sit.
Their focus will improve as well by giving their excess energy an outlet and allowing their brains to work.
Research has shown that the movement of the wobble stools increases the blood flow to their brains as well.
