Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are loving, kind, and devoted. They work hard for themselves, for each other, and for me! They are also energetic, full of curiosity, and spirit. My 5th-grade class is an exciting mix of Hispanic/Latino (Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic), African Americans, Africans (Nigeria, Tanzania, Mauritania) and Caucasians.

There is also an exciting mix of languages that can be heard among the sounds of our class.

We use our Chromebooks a lot to learn at school, especially due to our 21st-century job readiness outlook. I love my students and I try to encourage their love and respect for each other. We have brain breaks throughout the day where they can dance and sing, so we can remain focused during work time.

My Project

If students are given wobble stools then they have the ability to stay seated during instruction and remain focused on what the teacher is presenting. Students with ADD and ADHD or ANY student with ENERGY will enjoy sitting on a wobble stool to release pent up energy, instead of wandering the room and distracting others. I myself, get very fidgety, during meetings and know how students feel when they're asked to remain seated for longer periods of time. This will help during daily instruction, partner work, and during any testing times! These stools will serve all of my students with a positive energy outlet!
