Two to three paragraphs is not enough for me to tell you what I love about my students. I could write an endless list talking about why my students are so special, but there is one thing that stands out above all others. I have never seen such a welcoming and open-minded group of students. I have students with learning disabilities, students who require an additional teacher during the day, and students from all backgrounds. Despite all the differences in my room, my students are still a family and care for each other like I have never seen before.
These students are in an IB PYP school that focuses of student inquiry and becoming active participants in their learning.
I have watched their love for learning grow over the year. If these students had the opportunity to read and write all day, they would! That speaks to their work ethic and love for literacy. My students have made my first year of teaching an unforgettable one!
Having these Wobble Chairs for my students will allow them to have a choice in their seating. Student choice is very important in my classroom, so giving the students these chairs will give them more options. Wobble Chairs give students the chance to move while working.
Students get bored sitting in a traditional chair for hours upon hours.
Steve Boyle says, “Kids aren’t meant to sit still all day and take in information”. In addition to Boyle, other research has found that movement has a way of waking up the brain. If I can keep students' brains stimulated by giving them a way to move while working, I will see student engagement and performance improve.
Giving my students these chairs will give them a chance to wobble while they work!
