My Students

I am a Speech Language Pathologist in an elementary school. I support students in Pre-Kindergarten to 5th Grade with a variety of speech, language, social and sensory impairments. My students are focusing on strategies to help them better express themselves and communicate in the general education setting.

Everyone of my students are unique and learn differently.

They have a variety of needs and not every child learns the same or functions in the same type of environment. Whether it’s the need for more movement or an alternative seating, I try to choose what’s best for each student to do their best work. My students are looking forward to being independent in their respective classrooms and excel academically.

My Project

I tell my students that they need to find their best place to think clearly without distractions. I have them identify what they need to reach their learning goals.

They’re becoming advocates for their learning by choosing their environment.

These “Think Spots” allow them to get the movement with Wobble chairs and Soft Seats that they need to do their best work and channel their energy without running around the classroom.

Giving my students an opportunity to choose a place where they can express themselves and release some energy gives them the best chance of focusing on their learning instead of their need to move around the room.
