I teach in Arkansas. My school does an incredible job of creating a culture for learning and exploring. We focus on respect, responsibility, and perseverance across our entire community of learners.
My students are full of energy and excited to take on new challenges.
They come into my classroom from elementary school and face tremendous change in their transition to middle school. They have never switched classes before, never had real grades, and have never been expected to compete all their classroom assignments. Despite everything they face, they thrive. My students are a special group of individuals.
My Project
I work at an amazing school, but unfortunately we have the smallest classrooms in our district. With classes of 28 students, we easily feel cramped and are in need of some alternative seating options. I have requested two lap desks that can transform any chair into a student work space, along with three wobble seats that can be used in chairs or on the floor.
With the smallest classrooms in the district and 28 students per class, we easily feel cramped and are in need of some alternative seating options.
The wobble seats are dual purpose in that they offer alternative seating, but they also provide students with special needs with a way to move around while staying in their seats. The lap desks combine a seat and a desk in one piece that also can be used in a chair or on the floor.
These small additions to my classroom can make a huge difference for my students. I want them to feel more comfortable in our small environment and to have more options for learning. I also hope to help the attention and focus of my students who struggle to stay in their seats.
