Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach at a Title I school with a high population of ESOL students. I am constantly amazed by my students' desire to learn and the amount of determination they have to succeed. One of the best ways I have found to provide for all of my students' diverse needs is hands-on learning and technology integration. Technology is able to bring to life many of the abstract concepts that my students are learning about and allows them to interact with a concept, instead of merely reading about it.

Students who are actively engaged are able to learn more and at a deeper level.

Technology allows us to tailor the education to meet the educational and cultural needs of the students.

My Project

We expect more out of students today then ever before. While the rest of out students lives are on the move they are required to sit still in the classroom for 8 hours a day. This is a task that many teacher find hard to accomplish. Flexible seating allows students to keep moving while still in their seat working.

I want to create to class atmosphere where all students feel comfortable so they can focus on their education.

Flexible seating is especially important both to our ESE students, students dealing with stresses and the wiggle worms. Many of my students are dealing with less then ideal conditions at home including students who are displaced by hurricane Maria from Puerto Rico. These stresses can make focusing on school a challenge when they have so mush nervous energy. Flexible seating serves two purposes most obviously it allows students to fidget if needed and secondly gives students a sense of control when they get to choose the best seating for them.

Thank you for helping create a classroom that supports every learner.
