Every day, children walk into my classroom full of excitement ready to learn! Students at our school come from diverse backgrounds.
My classroom provides the students with a safe and predictable environment.
Predictability and routine of the classroom help to cushion the impact of stressors, and, as a teacher, I am in an excellent position to identify and support these children’s unique needs.
I provide a stimulating learning environment for my students. I foster their confidence and give them the courage they need to trust their own opinions which is necessary to develop their critical and creative thinking skills. I want children to be active learners and disciplined, creative thinkers who learn to make good choices, to work cooperatively and to be kind and responsible.
My Project
The flex-space wobble cushion will allow for children to choose where they will wiggle and wobble! Students can use the cushions on the floor or in traditional chairs and still have the freedom to wiggle and wobble! Students will have the flexibility to choose where and how they learn best! Currently, we have a few of these discs in our classroom. They are so popular the students asked if we could raise money to buy enough for every child in class, so that’s what we’re trying to do!
An uncomfortable student is a distracted and unproductive student.
Flexible seating encourages students to find their best spot to stay calm, focused and productive. Many flexible seating options stimulate students’ sense of touch. Sensory input is especially helpful for students with ADHD, ADD, and ASD.
In short, flexible seating allows for a more active, engaged, enthusiastic, and relaxed room of students! I cannot think of a better way to learn or teach!
