I’m greeted in the mornings by twenty-two high energy third graders. These students are high energy and they love learning. Each day, we work hard to transitition from “learning to read” to “reading to learn” The students at my school are diverse, creative, and amazing. We are a mix of racial backgrounds that truly blend together into a melting pot. Our students come from different income backgrounds, putting our school poverty rate over 65%. This pushes our faculty to work harder to meet the needs of our kids.
City of Ember is one of my favorite books to do a read aloud study on during third grade. The text is a little challenging, so it pushes my students to give their best! By having individual copies of this book, my students will be able to follow along while I am reading. They will also be able to read to each other, and even record themselves reading!
The wobble chairs would be such a wonderful addition to my classroom.
I plan to use them at my teacher table while working with my small groups. Since the wobble chairs take up less space than a traditional chair, I’ll be able to work with more students. It also will provide students with a way to move and learn at the same time!
