Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are a group of kids from diverse backgrounds in a large urban high school. More than 75% of my students receive free or reduced lunch and face economic hardships at home. Their families are not always able to provide the supplies they need for school.
Despite the many obstacles they face, my students are hard working and determined to graduate high school and head to college.
They come to my classroom smiling and excited to be there, and they work hard in class and at home.
My Project
Some of my middle school students have a lot of energy to burn. It can be hard to focus in math class when you are trying to get your energy out. But sometimes too much movement is distracting to other kids in the class.
Wobble stools help students move their bodies quietly in class while they are learning and collaborating with other students, but they are quiet enough to allow other students to continue working.
Help my most squirmy students stay focused on learning by providing them with what they need to get their wiggles out while doing their math problems.
