My students come to school brimming with new ideas each day. They are eager to learn and happy to please. I believe that they are just beginning to tap into their full potential.
My students are bright and ready to make our world a better and more beautiful place.
On any given day, you will find them engaged in many different ways. Whether it is a math game, creating Ozobot paths, or diving into a good book, these kids love all types of experiences to help them understand and improve the world we live in.
My Project
Sitting in hard blue plastic chairs all day can really take a toll on young learners; they need to be able to move around to stay focused and engaged in the classroom.
With only a 10 minute recess and a 20 minute lunch recess, my kiddos are missing 30 minutes a day that they should be using to be active.
The flexible seating that they requested will help them stay active for at least 60 minutes a day by allowing them free movement and the ability to strengthen their core muscles.
Having the Hokki stools in the classroom would allow my students to be able to move as they are seated in their desks. This movement benefits all types of learners because it allows them to get their wiggles out and still stay focused on the lesson. Especially in subjects like literacy and math where students are sitting and listening to lessons, then asked to move and work collaboratively with peers. Students also have the chance to work on their core muscles as they stabilize themselves on the chair, adding to their physical activity for the day.
