My students come from a wide variety of sociology-economic backgrounds. I teach in a Title I school, where many of my students come from low-income households. My students love to come to school, where they are taught, loved, and encouraged to do their best everyday. My students are active learners that have a wide variety of learning styles. Students in my classroom are able to focus and learn best when they are engaged and able to be active in their learning.
My Project
Flexible seating helps my students feel more comfortable while they work. We will use these wobble chairs during reading group time, at our reading tables. It is difficult for my first grade students to be still and work without distracting other students.
These special wobble chairs will allow my students the ability to wiggle while they work, in a safe manner.
Currently, my students are able to share six stability balls with roller chairs during their independent work time at their desk. When my students are able to use one of our classroom stability ball chairs they are able to wiggle and focus on their work. I would like to carry the ability to wiggle, in a safe manner, to our reading group time.
Giving my students flexible seating options will help my students perform, at their best, in a safe learning environment. We can't wait to wobble while we work!
