My Students

We are always on the go in my third grade classroom. Learning never stops! All my students are eager and motivated to learn, even though they are at such diverse academic levels. Academic instruction is mostly done in small groups so I can better differentiate and challenge my students' needs at their instructional levels. My elementary school is considered high-poverty with about 65% free and reduced lunch. We have students in grade K through 5th grade. Our ELL population is rapidly growing . In our cafeteria, you can see various flags that represent the different countries our students come from.

My Project

My students need five wobble chairs that allow them to "wiggle and "wobble" as they regulate themselves when they are in small group instruction. My students need flexible seats to use while they are in small group instruction. Young students continually need to regulate themselves. Better learning happens if children can move their bodies, without the fear of falling out of their chair.

Each year, I see more and more children who have difficulty sitting in traditional desk chairs.

I believe these flexible wobble chairs will make a difference in students' learning. With such a large gap in academic abilities in my class, I do most of my instruction in small skills groups. I plan to have these wobble chairs at the small group tables in my classroom.
