Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are special needs kindergartners and 1st graders. They receive extra help for their reading, writing, math, social skills, and daily living skills. Some of them also qualify for speech therapy and occupational therapy services as well.

My students have developmental disabilities and Autism.

All of my students receive free and reduced lunch. Many have social-emotional and behavioral challenges that impact their learning on a daily basis. My students want to pay attention and improve their skills in the classroom, but face many barriers due to their circumstances.

My Project

Wobble stools, in addition to increasing focus, time on task, and concentration can also improve student learning. They provide sensory input for students that need it - especially those on the autism spectrum. My students will love being able to trade in their traditional chair for a turn with this adaptive seat. This will allow them to have the opportunity to use a different method to learn that will fit into their unique learning needs. Not all students are able to sit still for long periods of time and this will help them to be able to accomplish that. Thank you for considering my project.
