My Students
Movement, mindfulness, and learning go hand in hand. Science tells us this. Our bodies tell us this. It is time to show my students this!
My students are a group of 33 spirited and diverse learners, each with their own strengths and needs.
The class includes students with special learning needs, English learners, and come from varying socioeconomic levels. These differences enable us to have authentic conversations about individuality and tolerance.
With a focus on social emotional development and mindfulness, my students are learning to be aware of their own needs. Please help me provide for them the tools that will enable them to learn in a fun and safe environment.
My Project
These wobble stools are critical for the focus of some of my students. Many students have more energy that needs to be exerted before they can focus on the task at hand. With these stools, the students can expend energy while working. I have used these chairs for years and am finding them more beneficial for a large number of students, hence a couple additional ones for the classroom. Without even knowing it, students are able to move their body and work their brain simultaneously. Every morning when the students clamor in, they anxiously ask who will get to use the stools that day. I would love to give them all that opportunity more often.
