My Students

I am a special education teacher at a low-income school. My students face many challenges both at school and at home. Despite the many challenges, my kids have a smile on their face and eager to learn. In more room, we work on skills to help the close the gap each child is facing in order to help them be more successful and move closer to being on grade level.

My students have many challenges to overcome, but together we open new doors.

My kids have many behavior challenges and social challenges. Most are raised in low income, single parent homes, in rough neighborhoods. They do not have the same opportunities as other students. Most days, coming to school means they are safe and have two meals. When they come in my room, I do everything I can to make them feel safe, loved, and taken care of. I provide small group instruction to meet their individual needs and set them up with what they need to be success.

My Project

Wobble Stools are a type of flexible seating for the classroom. Students not only love to be given options for seating, it provides many opportunities. Students are able to decide which type of seating is best them and their learning. Flexible seating, like the wobble stools, help students with ADHD stay focused because they are able to wiggle around while still staying seated and not distracting others. Because I teach children with special needs, every second I get with them is so important. These stools will help my students learn and be able to close the gaps in their education.
