I teach in a low-income/high-poverty district where we focus on reaching EVERY child that comes through our doors and into our hearts. I am proud to say that we are also an extremely diverse district, bringing together students from a wide variety of cultures and ethnicities into a school family.
I feel that my students deserve a classroom that is able to meet their diverse needs so that they have an equitable opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.
My students come to school ready to give their best every day, despite many experiences of trauma, poverty, and hardship. Our classroom becomes their safe place during the day, and I want to provide an opportunity to meet their needs as learners and amazing kids who are ready to shine!
My Project
I chose the Kore Wobble stools to provide an opportunity for kids to wiggle while learning. When students are working at our small group table, at their desk/table spaces, or in other spots in our room, they will be able to choose a flexible seating choice that allows them to do their best thinking.
We know that students learn in many different ways ~ this also translates into how to provide different seating options!
Students will be able to make choices that fit their needs as a learner! While I would love to be able to provide these opportunities for my students, these seats are expensive and I would love the support to make this happen in my classroom.
