My Students

My students come in to school everyday eager to learn, full of energy and light, and can't wait to see what we are going to learn that day! The thing that I love most about my students is we are a classroom family. We are in this together. We work hard, learn a lot, help each other even when things are tough.

Like every classroom, my students have various needs.

I have students who are excelling above grade level and need to be challenged. I have three students who are well-below grade level who qualify for resource interventions. Several students in my class this year are ELLs, or English Language Learners. These students need more exposure to vocabulary to make connections and to develop their background knowledge.

Helping each student on their individual level is a challenge, but I know I can make a difference to help each student meet their potential. I strive to make my classroom a positive and consistent environment to foster learning and development for every student.

My Project

Wobble stools will help my students be able to release some energy as they work. In second grade, I have very active bodies who are always moving and wiggling. As they release energy they will have more stamina to work hard on tasks longer.

With these stools, more learning can take place because they can wiggle while we work.

In the past, I have used ball chairs. They made a big difference for some learners. However, after a few years, they slowly "popped." These stools will not break quite as easy and I expect to be able to use these in my classroom for years to come.
