My Students
My classroom consists of 24 Kindergarten students. My school serves approximately 850 students, ages preschool through 6th grade. Many of my students are English language learners who are just beginning to learn the English language and develop their early reading and mathematical skills. My students come from Mexico, Guatemala, Bosnia, Somalia, and Burma.
My students are eager and active learners who love hands-on, interactive materials in order to make learning both fun and engaging.
Flexible seating would encourage my students to be more engaged, while still creating movement while learning.
My Project
I am requesting wobble seats for my reading table in order to maximize student engagement and allow my students movement during small group reading instruction. These seats will allow flexible seating for my students during some of our most intensive reading and math instruction times. I use a small reading table for small group reading and both reading and math small group intervention instruction. Flexible seating will encourage my students to move while still maintaining focus and engagement during our lessons and activities. It will provide my students with the movement they require, while still encouraging them to collaborate and communicate with their teachers and peers!
