I teach in a rural area of Maine. The community used to be a booming town with a operating mill. Now that the mill is closed budgets have tightened. Many families struggle to support their children through school.
My first grade students are full of energy and love to learn.
As the school year goes on the work is becoming more challenging and my students just keep pushing through. They are hard workers who want to be successful.
As the work becomes more challenging, my students are becoming restless. They want to move! Gonoodles can only get so far. My students need flexible seating to meet their busy body needs!
My project is the start of having flexible seating in my classroom. Flexible seating will help my students move while they are able to continue to work.
Kids are full of energy and need to be able to move to help them focus!
My class is full of energy. We do many Gonoodle breaks, but sometimes it just isn't enough to help get their wiggles out so they can focus on their learning. I'm a firm believer that kids need to move in order to learn!
Having wobble seats in my classroom will help my students focus and still be able to move. This will also allow them to sit and wobble instead of sitting in a chair or standing to work. They will be able to use these seats throughout the school day, and will enhance the learning of my students.
