Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are bright, active, and eager individuals! Our students face many challenges yet are very resilient. All of my students are English Language Learners who receive free lunches and come from low-income families. They live in a wealthy and segregated community. Despite having long days taking the bus to and from school every day, they still come to school ready to learn. Our school is a Title I school that has a great need for various resources.
My students are being empowered to be passionate learners and confident individuals.
They are learning what their individuals strengths are and about important life skills that they will use throughout their educational career and into adulthood.
My Project
Several of my 3rd graders this year are very high-energy and have difficulty focusing in class. They just need to wiggle and move freely. They have been moving about in unsafe ways (for example, balancing on two chair legs and falling on the ground!). One of my students is currently using one which is helping him tremendously! Wobble chairs help students build core strength and release energy while maintaining focus.
These wobble chairs will support my students and their learning by providing them with an outlet for their energy.
My students are passionate learners and just need more movement in order to stay engaged! I have seen the positive impacts that wobble chairs have on students and I know that these will have many positive impacts on my other students as well.
