My students are very hands-on and vocal about what they want to achieve within the classroom. Although each and every one of my students is unique they have the same goal in mind which is having success in their education. My 4th graders love to read, participate in science experiments, and create their own artwork. Their words are best expressed through their own creations!
My students are beyond interested in current events and news around the world.
I would love to involve them in what students their age are doing in different regions of the world. Our school, myself, and my students don't have the proper funding to experience Scholastic News or Scholastic Story Works.
My goal this year and every year is to provide my students with a more memorable and relatable learning experience within the classroom. Scholastics has a large variety of stories and activities that are aligned with common core standards. I want their 4th grade year to be the best year they experienced in Elementary school along with memories that will stay with them forever!
The use of flexible seating will promote physical health, comfort, and collaboration within the classroom.
Children need to move.
Flexible seating allows them to wobble, rock, bounce, lean or stand, which increases oxygen flow to the brain, blood flow and core strength. It also helps keep young minds more alert and focused.
An uncomfortable student, is a distracted and unproductive student. A uncomfortable chair can have the same affect.
Flexible seating allows students to quickly and easily pair up, work in small groups, or discuss as a whole class – without moving mountains of heavy desks to establish eye contact.
