My students are curious, creative, and active! I want to give them a way to be active without being disruptive so they can focus on their learning.
I teach in a Title 1 low-income public school with many students who are impulsive, need to move more, and need my help to be successful in the classroom.
My students need flexible seating to move without disrupting the class. These other options will help students concentrate and focus more on what they are learning. I can't expect my students to sit for hours, but do need them to feel physically regulated so they are able to attend the lessons I am teaching.
My Project
Using classroom accommodations, such as wobble chairs and wobble cushions, give kids who need to move or fidget something to do in their seats. It keeps their hands free and allows them to stay focused on their work. It’s quiet and not disruptive.
Allowing students to move increases oxygen and blood flow to the brain which allows for students to stay stimulated and focused!
Sitting in those hard plastic chairs all day get uncomfortable. These options take away the desire to get up and move because they are able to "wobble" without even thinking about it. I believe this will make a huge difference in my students' learning because they will be less likely to fidget and get distracted from their learning.
