My students need wobble chairs to release energy during class without disrupting instruction. So much is expected out children these days, and this would help them perform better in the classroom.

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach Kindergarten, and I love every one of my babies. We are a Title 1 school, which means all of our children qualify for free and reduced breakfast/lunch. Most of our children do not have the support at home they are seeking. When my babies come to class, I try to make them as comfortable as possible.

Our school sometimes gets overlooked in our district because we are not on the North side of town.

We are sometimes the last in our district to receive funds. Most of our children have not been outside of our community, so when we go on field trips they are seeing things for the first time. Every educator at my school adores our kids and want to see them all succeed!

My Project

I feel as if so much is expected out of students these days even our babies in Kindergarten are expected to do so much. It is so hard for a five year old to sit down in a classroom for so long. With the way the teachers are supposed to teach these days a majority of the time students are in their seats. I have been an educator in Louisiana for six years now and so much has changed in that short amount of time. I want to make my children in my classroom comfortable to learn. I think the wobble chairs would be an excellent addition to my classroom. It would give all my students a way to release energy from sitting so long. I do have brain breaks during transitional time, but I feel as if that is not enough for my young growing minds.
