My students are excited about learning! They come to school each day, happy to be here, ready to learn something new. They are a diverse group from many different cultural backgrounds.
My students need to move!
My students need Kore Wobble chairs to address their need to move about during reading lessons, without disrupting the learning of other students nearby. Picture a group of second graders. One of them is standing, two of them have fallen out of their chairs from leaning back so far, and a fourth is destroying her sneakers by balancing the chair leg on top of her shoe. These kids need movement, even while sitting in a small group teacher-led lesson.
Your donation with directly help my students by providing them with 6 Kore Wobble chairs to use during direct reading instruction.
The goal of this project is to meet the sensory needs of the children in my second grade classroom. These wobble chairs allow children to work off energy while still attending to a small group lesson. Recent studies in the May 2013 NAEYC Journal have published findings that report young children have "neurological processes that help them organize information and respond to their environment. The way in which each child responds to this sensory information is related to sensory integration. " (Lynch and Simpson 2004) I will use these chairs in my small group areas so that students can wiggle a little without disturbing the other children in the group.
