My 6th-grade students are a lively bunch of individuals. They are smart, courageous, social, and confident. They enjoy talking with each other about current events, ways to make our school a better place, and the books they are currently reading.
My students come from a very rural area where many have not had the opportunity to visit outside of the general vicinity.
Many students do not have the opportunity to go to the beach or even the mountains. A large portion of the students in the school come from a low socioeconomic background, but that doesn't stop them from being successful.
Adding these chairs to our classroom environment will allow students the ability to move while they work. These chairs will work really well for students who have trouble focusing on their work because their chairs aren't the most comfortable seat in the room.
Moving helps students focus.
Some students just need to move during the lesson to keep their brains focused. These chairs will help those students. It will give alternative seating to any student who may need it. The chairs can be shared or traded for other seating options throughout the year. Providing alternative options gives students means to be successful.
