My students are eager to learn, but do not have all the necessary resources to support and engage their learning. My class consists of 20 active kindergartners. My students come from an extremely low-income community. All students in my school receive free breakfast and lunch to help ensure their basic needs are being met. I personally purchase many items to make our classroom a fun, hands-on learning environment that children are excited to be in.
My goal is to raise funds to add exciting materials to the classroom in order to further student engagement and achievement.
I believe it is important to give students choices in their learning. Wobble chairs give children alternative seating options which increase attention and ability to focus.
My Project
Flexible seating has proven to have many benefits for students. Flexible seating encourages students to find their best spot to stay calm, focused and productive.
This type of seating benefits all students including special education students, students with ADHD, and your average 5 or 6 year old who need to move!
Students feel empowered by having some degree of choice and control over their environment. Flexible seating allows students to choose where they work and with whom. It also allows them to change their location and positions as needed, resulting in engaged learners. I literally have students falling out of their chairs because they are so hyperactive. Wobble chairs provide gentle movement for a calming effect, making it ideal for all students. These chairs will not only excite the children, but also enhance focus and attention for fidgety and active students in the classroom. Many flexible seating options stimulate students’ sense of touch. This type of stimulation can help children focus and process information, resulting in academic growth.
