My incoming class of first graders is a rowdy, full-spirited bunch. They love to move and make use of every corner of their current classrooms. They need a classroom that uses space efficiently and is as uncluttered as possible. They should also be able to choose seating that will best fit their needs and help them focus during the long school day.
They are full of energy and need to be able to expend that energy safely and without distracting from their learning.
They will need a classroom that supports their free spirits and allows them to focus on their learning each and every day.
First graders have busy bodies that can often detract from their ability to focus and learn in the classroom. Seating that allows them to continue to be children while staying at their desks would benefit them greatly. I currently use some borrowed bouncy bands for a couple of my students and they have made a big difference in their ability to stay in their seat and complete work.
To reach their full learning potential, they need to be allowed to move and fidget in their seats.
The wobble chairs would be used at the small group table - where some of the hardest work for the kids can take place. Currently, keeping my students in their chairs and focused is a big battle. They want to rock and turn, which distracts them from their tasks. Wobble stools would enable the rocking while keeping them focused on their work.
