This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am a second grade teacher in Colorado. My school is using the Modern Teacher models which promote students using their voice to advocate for themselves academically.
Being a second grader and having to stay in one spot all day long can be challenging.
I am looking for ways to provide my students with different options for seating. It has been proven that flexible seating can lead to an improvement in, sensory input, making choices, communication, and comfort. There is also evidence that flexible seating can increase students' standardize test scores.
My Project
We know that all children do not learn the same so why should all seating look alike. I am writing this grant to provide my students with additional choices. We know that all children do not learn the same so why should all seating look alike. I am writing this grant to provide my students with additional choices when it comes to seating. The wobble stools and lap desk helps me provide these choices to my students. When my students work, it is my goal for them to be comfortable when they do, and this doesn't always happen at a desk.
