My Students

Students in my school have the opportunity to begin playing band instruments in 6th grade. In 7th & 8th grade they not only play concert music, but they also learn to march and have the opportunity to compete in our local parades.

Our middle school band feeds into an award-winning high school marching band program.

When my students reach the high school level they will have the opportunity to compete in marching competitions and travel all over the country!

My Project

Yesterday, I found out that one of my students, who has a dream of being a music teacher, was going to quit band next year because her family cannot afford to keep supplying her with reeds for the bass clarinet and clarinet. I've purchased countless reeds for students over the years, but I realize that I need to have a large supply at school so that students don't feel stressed when their parents are unable to replace broken reeds.

No student should have to quit their favorite class because they can't afford to play!

I want to ensure that all of my students have the opportunity to continue playing in high school and beyond.
