My Students
My students are from an economically disadvantaged area in New York. These students are part of an ICT classroom, meaning 1/3 of the students have a learning disability. This project will provide the students in my class with reading books so that they can continue to find success in the classroom.
43% of students qualify for free and reduced lunch.
This means that many students are facing economical hardships at home. School should be a safe haven for them to dive into the wonderful world of books.
Please allow me to provide my students with rich literature to promote a sense of community and belongingness. These students need to have access to quality literature.
My Project
These books will be used at home and in school. My school is remote for the first month and then hybrid for the rest of the year. During remote learning, these books will be used as mentor texts during our lessons.
In the classroom, students will use these books during independent reading time, whole class instruction, and small group work with the teachers.
These books are engaging, new and exciting for students to read. This will help improve the reading stamina of my class because students will actually want to read books.
