My students need five Chromebooks for access to up-to-date technology to help them with key skills as they transition to Common Core Standards.
"Be the change you want to see in the world," Mahatma Gandhi said. In the 21st century, technology is changing and improving daily. If only technology could change and improve as quickly in the classroom.
This group of third graders is eager to learn!
They are readers, writers, scientists, and mathematicians! My students are adapting to the new Common Core State Standards and will be expected to not only know the material but also how to access and take the state tests on the computer. They attend a California Distinguished School. Like most schools in the state, many cuts have been made. Funding for students has decreased significantly making it difficult to update school technology.
With access to five Chromebooks in my classroom, students will be able to have resources to assist them in all subject areas. They will have access to the Internet for research, typing programs, as well as web-based programs. We can also use the Chromebooks for academic intervention for students who are struggling. The technology will give them meaningful learning experiences and will allow them to develop 21st century skills. They will have opportunities to be creative and be innovators of their own educational journey.
With only a visit to the computer lab once a week, my students are limited with the amount of time they have access to technology in school.
Our society is technology centered. I want to make certain that my students have the skills to be prepared for their futures in education and to be career ready.
