Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am so lucky to work with my 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. In 6th and 7th grade, we explore the ancient and medieval world together. In 8th grade, we work together to prepare for the AP French exam. By the time the students reach 8th grade promotion, we will have been together for three years! I love that I get to know these students and their families so well.

Because we are a French Immersion school, most of our material is found online, both texts and videos.

Hence, our need for headsets!

My Project

The district does not provide textbooks in our target language. To stay in the target language as much as possible, our resources are found online. Our students need to hear French spoken by native speakers every day, on a variety of subjects.

The headsets are used every day, in most classes, to access video content in the target language.

We also use the mircophone in AP French to record the conversation and cultural comparison sections of the exam.

We also have learners who benefit from have text read to them through the computer, and also from using the speech-to-text feature, so that they can express their ideas.
