As the only music teacher at my school, I have the precious gift of teaching music to every single student that attends our school from Pre-K and Head Start all the way up to 4th grade! We are a Title I school very near the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and all the students are extremely diverse and come from all walks of life.
By partnering with my school to fund a new keyboard, students will be able to perform quality music that helps them cope with varying home and personal problems.
Many students that are deemed the "bad kids" in school and are quickly able to express through singing, playing instruments, and dancing-- expressing emotions that take years for other students. Despite all the challenges these students are facing, they are always eager and ready to learn every single day!
My Project
You can have a music class without a piano or keyboard, however it isn't quite the same without one. With music programs throughout the year and classes everyday, I need a keyboard that is sturdy, functional, and portable that will take my students further into such an important subject; a subject that helps them escape the worries and pain that comes with their conditions and environments.
Helping fund this project would impact music learning for over 400 Title I students.
This keyboard will be used daily in the music classroom, prepare the students for 5 different school programs throughout the year, and for after school choir rehearsals.
