Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a preschool teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students and their families face many challenges. Working through the school's limited resources to meet their specific needs, this year is my first year working with preschool families. I had the opportunity to get to know my student this school year. I found the need to educate their parents as well. I have found that their cooperation and participation to be essential and critical in reaching my learning and teaching objectives for my students. Through the use of technology I will be able to administer parent training on content areas of math and reading as well as incorporating the use of technology into my daily instruction with my students.
My Project
With the requested iPad, we will be able to create a small technology center. The children will be able to work on research projects along with using other technologies within the activities center. My students will be able to explore the world around them. Living in a low income community, my students are very limited in their opportunities to travel outside of their neighborhood. Having access to different technologies will give them the chance to see the world which surrounds them. Our school is located in a low income community. We lack technology in the classrooms. Our students are at a great disadvantage. I want to prepare my students for the challenges they will face in the future. Many of them do not have the opportunity to use a computer at home. Their parents can hardly afford the food on their table, so please help our young learners get the tools they need to prepare for the future.
Please help my students in receiving this much needed technological resource in the form of the aforementioned iPad.
