My students are some of the very best kids around! Becuase we are K-12 school, most of the students began Kindergarten together and have remained with each other throughout their educational career. They are not just my students, they are my "kids!" Thankfully, my Librarian, Counselor, and Intervention positions allow me to work with all of our students in whole-group, small-group, and individually, so I am allowed to observe my students in multiple settings. My students are very respectful, disciplined, and eager to further their educational career. I love that I get to witness my students from Kindergarten through 12th grade and play an influential part in their life.
My Project
My duties include Elementary Librarian, Elementary Counselor, Reading Intervention Specialist (grades 4-6), Math Intervention Specialist (grades 4-8), and English Language Leaners. An Apple iPad Pro will not only assist me with teacher responsibilities but also will greatly enhance my students' learning. Since I travel all over campus for my varying duties, the iPad Pro will offer me flexibility and a means of constant Internet access. It will also provide a means to document and organize notes and other important digital documents as well as diminish the amount of papers I must carry to all of my job sites on campus. For library and counseling, I will be able to connect the iPad Pro to my View Sonic board with the compatible accessories to display lessons, videos, and activities. The iPad Pro will also allow my students to record videos of role play during counseling sessions and document pictures of class projects. I envision my iPad Pro being most useful for my Intervention students because of the unlimited number of apps available for both reading and math. The iPad Pro will allow me to implement intervention in a small group setting using the iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil to highlight and write text evidence (in reading intervention) and demonstrate math operations (in math intervention). My English Language students will also greatly benefit from having an iPad Pro as an additional resource. These students and I are constantly searching the Internet for pictures of objects mentioned in their classwork, they will enjoy having the convenience of this technology as opposed to my classroom desktop. I am anxiously excited to implement an iPad Pro and its accessories in all of the different areas I service because I expect a dramatic increase in student engagement that will directly impact student achievement!
