Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Throughout my experience in school I can always remember having an exciting selection of books to choose from to get me interested about reading. Looking through the book titles and pictures was always an experience. Being able to get ahold of a book and not want to put it down is an amazing feeling. I want to bring that feeling to our classroom for my students to experience.
Up to date, exciting, relatable books are what my students need!
Our fourth grade classroom guided reading groups are looking for sets of texts that will bring guided reading to life. My students are interested in reading and are looking for books to increase their curiosity and continue their love for learning.
My Project
Using the leveled books I selected, I will be able to differentiate books for students to enjoy at a reading level that is just right for them. These books such as Nate the Great, Fudge a mania, and The Great Gilly Hopkins, contain story lines that will create rich conversations for our groups that will make students eager to share their learning. Using The Primary Teaching Easel resource, students will be able to read, write, and share their thinking clearly in front of a group when discussing their novels.
Donating to this project will ensure multiple copies of meaningful books will get into the hands of students to build a foundation to strengthen their learning!
Our school is trying to update our library, but with the number of students and teachers that are using the resources, there are not always enough books to go around to classroom teachers. Especially multiple copies of novels to do dive into during guided reading groups. By donating these books and materials can aid students on their journey through a new and engaging novel!
