I have a class of 19 sweet, smart, and curious first graders! They love to learn and explore! I have a very diverse class. Some are from low socioeconomic status, some are middle class, and some are high class! They all have different learning levels also. They would love to be able to create Morning Tubs to work on during morning work time. In the tubs they want legos to build numbers, letters, and words with! Pipe cleaners and letters to practice their sight words and fine motor skills, play dough to be creative with and blocks to practice building and being creative! Morning tubs would change the mood of our classroom, promote creativity, and increase learning!
Each one of these materials will increase student learning. The alphabet lacing letters will allow my students to practice forming their sight words. It will help with their spelling also and letter recognition.
The legos will allow my students to work on fine motor skills and creativity.
The blocks will allow my students to learn how to problem solve and find ways to build things.
Lastly, the play dough will allow my students to learn to work with their hands, make shapes, and form different things. I believe that students need the opportunity to be involved with creative play! Therefore, I think morning tubs would be a great addition to my classroom!
