With Headphones We Can Work Independently

Help me give my students a place to sit that is comfortable and away from distractions during silent reading time.

My Students

My students are 8 and 9 years old. They are lovers of sports, art, conversation (sometimes two way) and friends and family.

My students cheer when they see science time written on the schedule.

I love to begin the lesson with a video clip and Generation Genius is the one they seem to love best. I enjoy hearing all of the oohs and aahs and they are more engaged and ready to learn when we can do this.

My Project

We are working on filling in gaps that have developed due to COVID protocols. My students can work independently at the level they need to if they can use headphones and sit apart from their peers. We have math and literacy programs that allow each student to follow their individual pathways. Headphones and private seating will allow the students to make the best use of these.

By working on their Chromebooks, using their own headphones my students will be able to follow their individual paths without distraction.

Some of my reluctant readers need to be taken away from the other students for silent reading time and comfortable seating is necessary for this. They will feel that they are being given a special priveledge instead of singled out in a negative way.
