I work at a Title I school where 45% of my students come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. They also have very diverse backgrounds in terms of race, ethnicity, and life experiences. The students I work with are very hard workers and strive to do their best all the time. Even when the content is challenging, they still give it their all.

They love hands-on activities that allow them to understand the concept being taught at a deeper level. They are determined to achieve in every setting and that is seen through their hard work and dedication.
My Project
Flexible seating allows students to learn more effectively in the classroom. Whether the seat allows them to wiggle, sit on the ground, or be more structured, the student will not have to focus on the uncomfortableness of the seat because they can choose which seat will accommodate their needs best. Flexible seating entails that they can find a location in the classroom that works best for them as well.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given the choice of flexible seating.
I wish for my students to become lifelong learners. This happens when they love what they are doing and love to learn. One way to encourage this is to allow for flexible seating in the classsroom that gives students voice and choice in how to learn and enables them to do their best work.
