With Creative Love!- Jim Dine Inspired Canvas Community Art Project
Help me give my students the opportunity to create a community project we are requesting canvas and painting supplies to work in conjunction with supplies we already have on hand.
My students are superstars! We want them and everyone else to know they are superstars! I teach 396 amazing kindergarten - 8th grade students at a low income urban school. Despite all of the many personal issues these kiddos face on a daily basis our students arrive at school smiling and ready to learn.
The children of our school community are positive, engaged, life-long learners who strive for excellence and high achievement.
At the elementary levels my students have the opportunity to attend art class every four days. My middle school students attend art class for one quarter every year.
My Project
The materials purchased will be used for our students to create canvas paintings inspired by several artists using a variety of mediums including painting, masking, mixed media collage, fabric, oil pastels and many others! For this project we will focus on art history, design elements of art and an introduction to different processes to create our masterpieces. Fabric collage, stitching, printmaking, drawing and canvas photo transfers will be options offered at various grade levels for students to experiment with. With mixed media designs the students really get to showcase their own artistic style!
