This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach a group of 45 wonderful students. My school serves 95% of students who receive free or reduced lunch. The students are highly capable. However, they lack technological equipment that would enhance their academic experience.
My goal is to foster a love for Reading.
My Project
I would like to foster a love of reading for students who haven't had as many opportunities to learn to love reading. I have read this book with my students for 15 plus years. I still have students tell me how they enjoyed me reading to them and with them. These books will primarily be kept at school. However, if students wish to take them home and read, I would never deny them.
I use the book, Watsons go to Birmingham to teach many skills such as point of view, dialect, exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution.
